Christmas Traditions...

Remember the traditions of the past...i thought id maybe share a couple of mine, id always have a wash for santa coming, and my mum and dad would buy MATEY bubble bath..its changed alot now to be commercialised, but i really used to look forward to it, i just always remember it! and now my mum and dad told me it was to represent my cleanliness my rededication to christ they never taugh me verbally then. but it was just really nice to think back on it, maybe you all think thats weird but it helped me appreciate what i was being "clean" for. so hense here is a bottle for you to see!

Also we always decorate the house with everything and USUALLY or we used to sit arround putting our own initial bauble on the tree ahhh good memories...im going to show you a photo but will replace it with the true picture soon! hope your getting ready for the real spirit of chrismas its nearly upon us! HO HO HO!!!

More Recently we have been working on snow men well for like a few years and last year we finished they are sequins on a skirt for the christmas tree...i love them because they are all sparkly, so i took a photo for you all so you can see. well i cant think of any others for the here and now ive just been carol singing and i took no photos poop but it was a fun night hehe! i love IKEA haha well, hope you tell me YOUR Christmas Traditions! lv me

BLOGGING JOLLY GOOD DINNER!

YO HO HO EVERYONE (in a dodgey santa claus tone) well i hope you all have had a good weekend mine was full of fun and festivity, also its been a hard week in my calling in Nursery too but im learning all the time! so the highlights for me in my boring old life, that gave it some KICK! yes i got to go to the YSA dinner and Dance, i could not BELIEVE the food the francoms had put on they are the BEST! there was loads left over, but not because no one liked it. BUT BECAUSE WE WHERE SO FULL AFTER THE FIRST SITTING! they really did an AMERICAN dinner for us, i was so amazed No one knows it but Brother and Sister Francom was there from 9 AM they neevr sat down just always cooking and and preparing things for the event they are WONDERFUL people I LOVE THEM TO BITS, so i publicly thank them for making a wonderful atmosphere for all the YSA to come together! THANK YOU...i wish i could summerize everything for you all. Just know i had a really fun time! i got to speak to old and new friends. and had a really good laugh you dont always have chance to do that. but i certainly did this past friday! here are some pictures to show you of the event...

After the food we had a really fun SEROC experience YES EMMA if your reading it...WE DID IT! i didnt personally because i was taking photos but it was fun to watch! (not that i could dance anyway) but yes it was good to be able to see some couples together AWW! i said behind my camera it will feature towards the end of todays Blog! i had to get the photo of the Francoms though, i got some other fun ones but i jsut wont put them on because i may embarrase people MR POLLARD :P haha ok ok! well we had a real good time altogether. we did dance towards the end...the best prayer i ever heard was, we are thankful that we TRY to dance...or soemthing along those lines, well i did try! hehehe i love it haha but i had a blast, groove in the heart was always a favourite to me. i got on and boogied! i love my little possie that join me when i dance its a great feeling, even if the music isnt always supportive! i didnt want to leave only because quoir was going to be on i need to go have rest...yes i know it was SUNDAY the concert but still i needed to prepare lessons for Nursery! :)

Always nursery is a challenge i know the Lord wants me in there though. sometimes i have contention and hard times but like i said it WILL make me stronger the children i LOVE to bits! i just cant wait until they actually WANT to come to nursery. i know change is hard for me, for anyone really, but the scriptures and my good friends are keeping me sane! well i will show more photos from the event friday...dont want ya all to fall asleep, thanks for your comment andrew hehe and i thought no one read my BLOG i was WRONGGG!...

ok so maybe ill write about Choir too! i nearly forgot, im trying to write here at least once a week! so ill make it count. i read on BYU-I that blogging is like an online journal for its students so i guess it is for me too i know Larisa is a success you GO GIRL! i was going to ask does Becca have a blog too? she should have one! hehe but yes i love to blog once i get into the writing mood, so keep watching out for more. Choir on Sunday we got to church for 5pm after intensive rehersal with coughing water sipping, nose blowing we pulled through it all. poor Andrew i hope your better! we need your voice, my favourite performance was the candle light carol no not because my sister sang in it, but i loved the small group, probably our best singers in that lil group. but i really loved it it captured the Christmas Spirit for me. and why because i wasnt singing in it! hah no i really did love it! we all did great you guys im really happy to be apart of choir! thanks guys for making it worth it (even thouhg im ill today) LOVE YA BEX

After a month at my new job i wanted to come and write something, i really miss doing this everyday! but i wanted everyone to see my last entry about the NEW ERA it seems not too many people have noticed but its ok! its only my name in small print...still it isnt about recognition its about achieving something that you never thought possible and thats me!

So much as my photography, i have been asked to do many different photo shoots, some come thick and fast some never, but hey all in good time, i had the priveledge of taking pictures of my new Cousin Josh! he is beautiful and i had chance to do some really nice photos with my dad holding him! i saw a quote or "phrase" you miss 100% of the photos you dont take and i realised i forgot to take photos of the FUN events the DAY TO DAY things, i guess working wears you out! but i hope i never forger to have FUN!!!

But Institute was fun this week, i forget to get involved some weeks, you jsut get into choir and sing but i just enjoyed it this week...i jsut stood up and took this photo to the left, JOYOUS RAPTURE! ahah im sure everyone was in shock, marr they didnt even notice. i loved the feeling there we had great visitors, Andy and Helen. i met some new faces, chatted with some and jsut had a blast. i cant wait for the meal this friday, I NEED TO GET OUT MORE! i decided i need to socialize a little more since i got called into nursery, im more of a stranger to everyone, so watch out everyone i could POP out anywhere :D

My long awaited Dream...came TRUE!

i wanted to write you a little about the things that happened over the past few months! As those of you may know some may/may not but this months NEW ERA to the right here is my photos, this was a really wonderful experience for me, and i have to thank Fleur for having the faith in me to take the photos for her!

when i was in youth i always dreamed about having soemthing of my own published remember the art contests every year i would always submit and they never made it. Then a year and a half ago, i was asked by Fleur to take photos for her, im like "WHY ME? im not that good!" but i did it anyway i wanted to at least try, the only reason i ever became interested in photos was because i had an interest in another YW and my President's Photography i always loved the clean lines, the interesting landscapes and the beautiful people you can photograph.

As others may know i went to America, just before i left Ryan Carr (the editor for Fleur's article) emailed me and asked if i could possibly go sign the photos over, and go visit the NEW ERA offices. i did and it was an experience of a LIFETIME! Everyone was lovely, i was nervous to meet them all but i went in and sat down. Ryan was a very tall guy but really down to earth, they are all just wonderful but just normal members of the church trying to do their best, i met another editor called Shauna Butler. she was a beautiful lady really kind and generous, warm and friendly, she spoke to me about idaho and her experiences, we spoke about the photos and about how i got into it. a unearthed talent at 13. discovered at 17, developed at 19. mastered SOON!

Next i heard Ryan come into the office, and he says we found the proofs for the issue, YOUR ON THE COVER! i went "WHAT?!?! why i dont understand", i was so in shock. maybe to some people having photos in the NEW ERA is not a big deal to them but to me it means the world! i thanked them soooo many times! they told me "you know many professionals try to get the cover and they just dont get it!" i was in shock even more. i left the building after i had toured and seen the whole top 29th floor, which was so high i could see the WHOLE of salt lake. it was beautiful! you cant imagine how good i felt about what i had achieved, ME a girl who never wins anything, ME a girl who never gets A's or has any real achievement at school. i was SOOOO happy!

I called my mum and dad they where nearly shouting down the phone in amazement, my dad "im so pleased for you pet" mum was just giddy, and i was dancing arround the room, singing and just making a fool of myself hehe! it was 1am in england when i called but they told me it was worth waking up for! it was only a week before i came back to england it was 2 days to conference, i was so lucky to attend, i realised OH MY LIFE the prophet has seen my photos! he has to that he can approve them. i saw him that same sunday and my respect and love for him trippled, quadrupled, oh he is just such a great man. HE IS THE PROPHET!

Finally when i came home dad had TOLD EVERYONE! they all said CONGRADULATIONS, it was and still is quite a blur for me but all the while worth it. i recieved my copy of the NEW ERA yesterday morning. It still doesnt feel like its MY WORK. if that makes sense, its like i have been someone else and like i could not be capeable of something like that. dad told my cousin "its a world wide magazine you know!" again it hit me that the world will see my photos, will i be favoured, or will they be counted as naught? i know not everyone will, but i know they would not put it on the cover if it wasnt worth it, and i know deep down i have a right just as much as anyone else to share my talents. I love this gospel and i know with all my heart its true, i know my saviour lives and he has blessed me with all i have. i know the Book of Mormon is true and i would share it with anyone, im thankful the prophet encouraged us to read it again.

i look forward to all your responses, and the future to come. thanks for all your support and friendship ~ Rebecca

The time is FLYING!!! The paint is DRYING!!!

Well after many requests i wanted to say something, im able to go to a very special place again today so im grateful for that chance, im noticing how time is going by so fast! just for andrews blog i have to pay tribute to his writings ive been watching and i they are so wonderful! really thoughtful and intresting, as the story is told with photos! :D anyway! i hope you are all well having good holidays and rest, even if your all working its time to just let yourself REST! be yourselfs and do the greater good.
i have also been redecorating after waiting with my family like nearly 10 years we all got together and painted our kitchen done everything, the point being, object lessons are always best, but i guess we all need a new coat of paint now and again, we have many people working on us, but its the preparation thats best i mean you have to sand rough areas and clean mucky marks, resurface and all that before you actually paint! and you can liken that to us :)
painting is also theraputic i find so anyway, dont you find that when we decorate its one step at a time, you have to make sure things dry and are covered, you cant just do everything in one day. well ill let you all interpret how you will but i just thought id share the insight...
i have let my camera skills go lax this past month, but im starting again with new projects and ideas, please watch out for them i love to be able to show them to people and share them, i just hope you will all bear with me, untill i write again BE HAPPY!

Live 8 and my experience...

im still sat here watching and listening to the LIVE8 performances, and im so glad i am apart of what is going on, it really touched me when the girl on the video in africa near death 20 years ago, was on the stage in Hyde Park beautiful, strong and thriving. To me that is what makes all the difference, i think Bob Geldoff is a wonderful man to use the influence he has to influence this mass carnage thats going on in the 3rd world countries, as a child i would cry and still do, at the poverty and stavation, pain and suffering these poor people are going through! i wished then that something could be done for thes people, i felt i wanted to help them but HOW? today i got answered that question, by signing my name to the LIVE8LIVE website, and i also wrote a letter to Tony Blair...ok im only one person but as Davina said, if we all do it together we can make a tremendous change! i am very happy this event across the world has gone ahead, billions have watched attended and supported this event, the main thing is not the numbers in the sense of attendance but im happy that many more than myself have a heart and want to help those who are suffering so much. Annie Lennox really got to my heart, and i told my mum how stunned, and depressed that i was. leaders of influence have seen all of this, have seen the wonderful good from the produce of one girl to survive and still havnt been moved to change, i really hope and pray that they WILL see this world effort and WILL stop the hurt, that is going on...again i am pleased to be apart of this effort, i hope we ALL support it.

thoughts from Institute...

  • i was sat in the class tonight thinking as i always do, i probably never say anything because im in sheer fascination at the example from the scriptures and especially tonight, how Joseph Smith coped getting surgery on his leg with no pain relief, basically being prised apart, and we discussed that we dont go through hard things in our life for nothing, we need things to try us and thats essential for our growth, man i dont think i could do what he did! it truly was a miricle, i loved how Brother Rickford taught, it really hit me personally, would i be so valiant?...
  • ...i was also thinking how hard some descisions are in our lives, not between good or bad but good and better. as in for our education, our career path and our progression, the most thing that needs to happen is to follow the spirits promptings and also be obedient to what the Lord desires for us, sometimes that can be the most unrealistic goal, or something you couldnt do your naturla self. i think even if others tell you your silly for the choice you have made, if you are meant to go there will be a way prepared for you! i think myself especially faith, obedience and nourishing my testimony need to be deepened to carry out my quest...
  • ...alot of these thoughts have been circulating my mind recently, like trying to make the best of what you can do in your own circle of influence, being the best you can - service, charity, love and deepened understanding for those arround us. maybe im being too random. but i know i need to trust in my own nature and my self to be able to do the best i can do right now! and thats what is important, WOW alot from that lesson its always nice to ponder on these things everyone should BLOG on how they liked the lesson!
